From Siri to Healthcare: The Impact of Apple Intelligence

From Health Tracking to AI: Apple’s Technological Leap

Apologies for the unexcused absence last week. We were out trying to lick toads with Aaron Rodgers.

WWDC happened last week.

Here are some notes we scraped together in our text messages and notes app.

Unveiling Apple Intelligence at WWDC

Apple Intelligence: The Ultimate Iteration

Apple unveiled Apple Intelligence at WWDC this week, and one of their superpowers is bottling the most current technology for the most appropriate use case at this moment in time.

The Apple Legacy of Innovation

Whatever they do, really does become the ultimate iteration of the thing.

- Apple Watch broke down the door of health tracking, and will continue to eventually become a central piece of value-based healthcare.

- AirPods changed our perception of spatial awareness for better or worse.

Apple Intelligence…what is it?

So when they unveiled Apple Intelligence, it was fitting that it was going to be the ultimate iteration of how to best use this technology in our daily lives…

…and it’s Siri, which will finally become the super competent personal assistant it was always meant to be, which (we hope) will free us from all the digital detritus we have to deal with on our phone - scheduling reminders, events, remembering to get stuff, etc.

#### AI's Clearest Use Case (Heading 2)

There’s so much talk and activity about generative AI trying to compile all the web’s information, that it’s a pretty simple turn by Apple to say we’re going to employ AI to help solve the details of your life. This is a pretty defined problem set for AI to tackle that makes our life materially better NOW, not months/years from now.

Apple Intelligence in Healthcare

And where Apple Intelligence or...AI, will see the most exciting innovation is health.

Apple is secretly a huge healthcare company with tons of data points on Apple device users, and AI in this space will eventually transform that first touchpoint with healthcare providers. So it really seems like the first iteration of a long journey of improvements.

Vision Pro and the Future of VR

The other side of this coin is Vision Pro. Apple’s current strategy for Vision Pro focuses on building up the app ecosystem. It’s clear they’re committed to this device, as their primary announcement included new APIs for developers to create applications. Notably, medical apps for examinations and procedures were highlighted.

The Strategic Implications

This approach signals a few things: Apple intends to keep the Vision Pro as a super premium product, aiming to unlock significant value in the medical procedures space.

However, Apple’s AI announcement also demonstrates a shift in market focus, potentially overshadowing VR innovations.

Have a great week!
